You just weren't aware of who he was, and you really don't care.. to me, he's a neighbor.. although he moved out on his wife & kid a half-year ago... it depends on your cognition and maturity level, too.. about life/death, what it means to Pop Culture, the film industry, art more or less. This guy was an Oscar nominated actor -- and BILLIONS of people watch the Oscar telecast, much less have seen any movie with him in it. The ONLY ONE THAT I SAW was the Mel Gibson movie "The Patriot"... he played his son. This news is a SHOCK and absolutely deserves to lead the news -- over 100s of pathetic stories from Hillary phony-crying (and the media not saying the question posed to her was about HER HAIR AND MAKEUP!), Britney being tooled from everyone from Dr. Phil to some greasy photog now (and no one's ripping her father or uncles for not already MOVING in and protecting her). Or, what? You expect the local news to send reporters out to cover something? (they just re-run & re-read what's on the online news sources, anyway)
The guy was an international star -- and just wait until you SEE the new Batman movie... you'll realize he was every bit as good as any actor well, alive. (If Russell Crowe went this way, you wouldn't be slowed to think what a shame it was, at least?)
Why, you wouldn't MISS an Angelina Jolie? Shakira? Beyonce? (even Lisa 'Left Eye' Lopez had an MTV/VH1 reality show with her cam-tapes YEARS after she died, right?) even your favorite male actors (think about it). You didn't care about JFK, Jr. when he killed himself, by accident? You wouldn't bat an eyelash, if George Clooney actually.. killed himself last year, in his NJ motorcycle accident?

I think "obsessed" is a wrong word to use. Not everyone feels as strongly as you do.(just my thoughts and opinion.)

I know what you mean if you asked me to name one film he had been in I could not name one. What I find so crass is all these so called friends and stars saying oh he was a legend and we will miss him. I am sure a lot of them say something to get the column in the glad rag of the day.
They don't obsess. This loss took a lot of people by surprise, he was bright, young with a great career ahead of him.
When someone like Anna Nicole, it was kind of expected, she had a drug problem which she made it public to the entire media, people expected it, just like people expect Amy Winehouse to drop any day now.

He wasn't even a good actor. Women loved him because he was a pretty face with an Aussie accent. I didn't see the gay cowboy movie, but I saw previews and I swear he must have watched every John Wayne movie there was to try to get his horrible accent down for that movie. Now Mel Gibson and Nicole Kidman, those are a couple of Aussies that can act!

We see them in the movies on TV they fascinate us !! I wonder what it would be like to travel in their circles. I liked Heath in the movies I've seen and to think I'll never see him in another film when he's sooo young is disturbing to me! Even if he weren't a star he was still to young to die. I get upset when ever a young person dies the old not so much it's their time. What a waste !! I work in a hospital and see people dieing all the time but it's just different when they are young it's just not right. I try not to let it get to me but it does every time a child dies or a teen. You would have to be pretty cold hearted not too regardless of who they are. ?
