The first week of this year...my aunt wanted a memorial service rather than a formal funeral though.

December 2005, my Granny. Funerals are weird.
Last one was my son's in 1991. There have been others that I should have gone to since, but I just can't seem to make myself.

This past Sunday Morning (1/20/08).
My Father's best friend (of more than fifty years) died unexpectedly, due to what is being currently presumed to be poor medical care after a medical procedure. The house of worship where the funeral was held was Standing Room Only and there was not a dry eye in the house.
To make matters worse, my brother and I missed his and his wife's 40th wedding anniversary this past year, so I missed an opportunity to celebrate with him and instead got to mourn his loss.
This proves to me even more that we should all take every opportunity presented to express our affection to our loved ones and spend time with them because you never know when you will be prevented from continuing same.
Uh... a year ago. There was a funeral for my grandfather yesterday, but I couldn't come. =(
