Forward is ok. As long as it comes with a level of tact. Otherwise you'd just be obnoxious...Assertive is better.
I am also 'very forward'. I don't know about you, obviously. People can be forward online and not so much in real life...I am all of the above! My aunt once said to me "Ash is just like her mother, just with more, uh...um...attitude." And I said back "Just say it Aunt D, I am a bigger bi*ch!" Her response: "Well, not to split hairs or anything." haha. I would rather wear it on the cuff than dance around things like sooo many people do.

Being forward but in a polite manner is a great thing. One can always get their feelings and thoughts across in an accepted manner this way. Nothing wrong with this and everyone knows where you stand in each situation.
