Violence, Violence, Violence...?!

Question: I am watching tv and I see the commercial for the movie saw, so many violent video games on the market, so many violetn games teaching children to dare each other, to hurt each other. There is so much violence going on do we really need it on tv? WHen I turn on the tv, it is to watch commedy something to make me laugh and have a good time, if I want to see violence and people attacking each other I would watch the news or Nancy Grace. I think that in commedy channels there should be only commedy or non violent commercials, on cartoon channels there should only be stuuf about cartoons and so on, no violence or nothihg. In my opinion that is why children are so angry and violent now a days. What do you think we can do as people to change certain things on tv, not so much violence and all and what is your opinion about television and violence at the reach of children now a days?

Do you remember the days when families would sit around and watch the TV together? Cosby Show, Webster, Facts of Life, Family Matters? I think that we need to ask for more shows like this and stop watching the mind numbing garbage that is reality television where they promote backstabbing, lying, and cheating to get what you want. And yes, I think that when family shows are on, that they don't need to be advertising violent garbage. Those Saw movies are trash.

Get a good radio or use your parental controls.

YOU, as a person, can do one thing quite simply.

CHANGE THE CHANNEL TO SOMETHING ELSE.

Violence sells, and that's all the TV companies are bothered with - PROFITS

I agree about all the violence on TV....people think it's funny but it's really not and they just laugh at it and I'm just thinking how you could really laugh at people getting hurt....I hate it. Shows like that should be blocked.
But I do like the saw movies....but really there's a reason they have that rating.

TV sure isn't going to help at all.

Yes, kids are exposed to way too much on TV. I'd say turn off the TV and make them read a good book.

I agree but even the cartoons of my day had vioilence! The roadrunner remember.

Plus we have over 100 channels to pick from.

it wasn't violence on TV that made me beat up that homeless man i mean really give a little credit to are public schools JUST KIDDING

Don't waste your time here, start writing to the networks and cable channels.

lol@nancy grace. I don't watch her show. It gets me in an aggressive mood. But yes I understand where you're coming from.

One wants to watch something that gets you in a good mood. And when all that violence comes on.. One feels like arguing...

At times I have been nice and calm. And see things like cruelty towards children or women come on TV. And suddenly I feel like knocking someone out.

the world needs this ???? ? ? ? ? ? ?

I really feel sorry for the kids today. I was a teen in the 60,s. My kids and now grand kids call me flower child. That's fine with me. I,m glad I grew up then than and not now. All this violence would not have been allowed on t.v. or in the music. It is NOT censorship to say, we don't want our children exposed to something that incites violence, hate, sexism, and racism! That's called Love and common sense! I have always made an effort to monitor the movies and music my children came in contact with. They didn't like it then. But now,(Thank God) I see them doing the same with their children. People go belly up now when they know something is not right, thinking there is nothing they can do about it. Yes there is! It might sound old fashion but the word is "Protest". Let the t.v. and music stations know how you feel. OK, So It might not change things but at least you will know you tried. And better yet, your children will know and hopefully learn from it.

But there are big wide-screen HD televisions for all the good kids who can't wait to turn 13 to see all the stuff that says "R" because they've already see all the lame "PG-13" crap!!
Parental Control is the new oxymoron. Kids tell parents what they want now, and if they don't get it, they'll go next door and see it or borrow it. It's a virus, an epidemic, that is spreading like a wild-fire out of control and one day an old, decrepit generation of "Baby-Boomers" will find themselves corralled into over-crowded, smelly Institutions Of The Forgotten, with their Social Security just something they rattle on about amongst themselves. It should seem shocking, but nothing's shocking anymore, HUH?!
And is becoming rapidly less so.

There is alot of violence now days. I wish there was more happy heart felt shows with good lessons on life. Just my romantic, happy brain.
