Aren't you shocked sometimes with how people dress to go to church?!
Question: Sometimes I watch how people dress to go to church and it shocks me. I mean I am a muslim, but was a christian for a long, long time and going to church was like going to a fashion show. People put on lbs of make-up, the best dress they had, shoes and they would go to church. Makes you think weather you are a true religious person and what you intentions in going to church really are. Now changing the subject from chicken to cow, but not so much, I was watching America's next top model and I saw that they had a fashion show in the church, and the women were dressed walking around the church on a catwalk wearing some low cuts and it was like a party in the house of God. That kind of upset me, cose I maybe a muslim but I know the bible and I know that there is a passage in the bible where people are making the house of God a market and Jesus... Well here is the passage!

I really don't think it matters all that much. Personally I like to look nice.. But sometimes I'll wear jeans and a nice sweater with boots or maybe I'll wear black pants. I always put effort into it though. I would never show up in sweats or something like that... At my church almost everyone is dressed nicely. Not showing off, but presentable..I don't think it matters too much how you look as long as your aren't offensive to the congregation, such as wearing a beer logo t-shirt or pj's.
We have to remember that it's not about us, but it's about HIM (Jesus)..

OMG some of these people.....in jeans and shorts and ts imean its Gods house....dress up for an hour of ur life once a week
I go in jeans and sneakers. I think it is less offensive for someone to dress up or down, then to have to cover your self from head to toe like some sort of slave.
EDIT: You find my comment offensive, but you are the one who is passing judgement on how others dress to go to worship in a church that you abandoned.
not really. i think they way you dress when you go to church has nothing to do with the relationship you have with God. What matters is that your there.
in any case, its not my place to judge.
I try to dress in a manner to show respect. I don't pile on the makeup or jewelry. I also wouldnt wear sweats and a tee shirt. I saw a teen aged girl in church with her family once. She was wearing a rhinestone micro-mini skirt. I just thought about the argument that must have gone on in THAT house that morning.
i haven't been in church for a while but i know that the big thing for a lot of the younger crowds was to find a boyfriend that will do them right. meaning that if they are church goers then most likely they will be good to the girlfriend. so they were tons of make up. now heres the shocker. they will wear skin tight jeans. blouse that are cut down to there. with dangling necklaces to bring the focus down to the breasts. it's amazing to me.
as for turning the house of god in to a market place. um... other then girls selling there looks to get a guy. i haven't seen much with the selling of anything. i think that thing you saw on the top model is not right. that's just wrong.
they do sell bibles and other things like that like roserys and jesus figures and holy water. in my book i think those things should be free. or not sold in the house of god. if people want to donate money that's one thing but to sell religious items um... i don't know. what do you think
Church is about glorifying God Not our self's. We should look decent and showing respect to God. Just my opinion.
