Whats the best way to tell people to go home?!

ha ha! I agree, I usually just start yawning and say, sorry I had a late night and I'm going to have to have a lie down, or if its someone you know has a habit of lingering, let them know upfront, u have an appointment, so that they know they will only be able to stay awhile!

I know the feeling.
I always pretend I have somewhere important to go, and then I get my coat on, and grab my keys and they follow me and leave too, and then I come back a few minutes later, and WA LA they are gone! LOL
Walk them to the door open it and say its time for you to go.
Be assertive, take their hand & guide them out the door.
say you have to lose the bathroom,make sure you have your phone,tell your friend to call you within the next ten minutes,when they call say an emergency happened at work
OR
just tell them they have to go
A stink bomb usually works wonders!
Tell them you're tired and want to have some rest for
tommorow.
Be honest with them dude. Explain to them that you have stuff to do and they need to get out! Or be even more honest and say that you want them to leave.
"You were incredible, Cindy (it is Cindy, right?), but my wife is due home any minute..."

Say you have errands to run, walk them out to their car, have your cell "vibrate" and then say you have an important call to take. Walk back inside, lock the door, and enjoy wats left of your day.
I usually pretend to fall asleep see if they notice and take a hint if not i wake up yawn stretch and say i'm gonna have to go bed soon i'm shattered dont offer them anything they might say yes
I hate that too,nothing like inviting themselves to hover on your time,eeww. I usually say something like "oh,hey how are ya,etc,etc,and that I can talk for about 5 minutes,but then I have somewhere to go",and when that time comes I will get in the car,say goodbye,they get in theirs and we leave,I then come back in,lol. I have a hard time saying "I DONT WANT YOU HERE,COULD YOU PLEASE LEAVE!!"
this happens to me at work so much. i just say well i'm getting behind on my work and pick up something and walk away, they leave and i can come back to my station!
