The Uk style you dont have to walk to get your mail and you can shoot someone with a staple gun in the nuts
uk much better for a start it would mean going outside to get the post who wants to that on a cold frosty morning and in the uk it would prob end up rather soggy and I bet alot of the boxes would get vandalised
the uk letter boxes are better because letters and stuff cannot get stolen from you unlike in america where they use mail boxes on the street where people can damage and steal your mail or damage your mail box
We have a set of boxes for our block and some bunch of assholes smashed all of them open hoping to find letters with money in them.

We call them Mail Boxes. Mine is at the end of my driveway.
I always wondered that in Australia too! Their drives are so long though that the postman would be at it all day! My husband is Aussie and when he first got here it freaked him out when the letters popped throguh the door...he found it intrusive!
i like US style cause its faster to get your mail i also had an apartment mailbox and a neighborhood mailbox for 9 houses where you have a key for it
In the door, you never know who will get your post if it's a mail box.

not all american mailboxes are like that. Yes, we have them in the door as well. And no, we don't keep them locked (the free-standing mail boxes). I think it's widely known that tampering with mail is a federal offense.

People steal from American mailboxes all the time...that's why I have a lock on mine. We had a letter box in our front door when I was a kid in California.
Mial boxes are not locked. I like the mail boxes better, Why do people have to be so lazy as to have the mail put through the door. And Mail boxes also look nice.
Some of us have door boxes. There are the occasional mailbox theifs, but, the penalty for anything to do with the US Mail is really stiff. I personally live in a rural area and there is no way the mailman could go to each houses door so the box is about the only practical means, but, I would love to just pick the mail up from the door in my skivvies and not have to go out.
I live in the country, and we have a postal carrier deliver the mail. Our mail boxes are not locked. We are pretty fortunate that no one tampers with our mail. They have bothered people before, hopefully it doesn't happen again.
