What do you think about people who chat on their cellphones on public transporta!

Question: I boarded a train at 6am to go to work this morning and this person two seats behind me chatted the entire way disturbing quite a few people.

She just chatted away with no regard to the others next to her.

I understand that sometimes a person needs to use their phone to handle an emergency or a business matter but this was simply gossiping with her girlfriends, then having to put that person on hold to take another call, and so on and so on, all the while speaking loudly.

Am I overreacting or should there be a certain phone etiquette/protocol while traveling with others in close quarters?

And if so, should one say something to the offender (politely of course)?

What are your thoughts?

Thanks & Peace

Cell Phones users can be real rude. No concern for those around them are Ever taken into consideration:
at supermarket checkout lines
driving
bank lines
really any line your standing in waiting for service
I agree with you!

we have signs on our trains that tell people to be courteous and not use their cellphones so not a lot of people do it but the ones that do are so inconsiderate. usually the ticket person tells them to shut up.

She is perfectly free to talk on her phone whenever and wherever - there is no law preventing her from doing such. Furthermore, you are free to not use that mode of transpotation if such things bother you so much.
That being said, yea, it was probably rude. But whatever dude...lighten up.
