Listen to the sound of your own heart and notice it's speed and rhythm. Have a friend do the same thing.
Then stand close together, hug or hold hands, anything that will get your pulse points touching.
Then you will notice that the speed and rhythm of your hearts will synchronize.
Its the same when taking a pulse, you notice that they have a special way of holding your wrist so the thumb isn't around it? Its because with the thumb around your wrist, your pulse will synchronize with theirs.
