Since many men are well known for having severe attention deficit difficulties, along with a sometimes chronic case of "selective hearing," I'd say it's a man's prerogative to "tune out, or listen up". We women know which option they most often choose though..( she says, with a smile)

To belittle her.
To say "yes, dear."
Not to really listen when she talks.
