Who on earth would pay money for old rope?!


Question: My husband is a fibre splicer. No one ever seems to know what that is? He deals in new rope but folk talk about old rope. Any ideas on the subject.

Money for old rope is a very easy way of making money ! so he deals in new rope, must be working very hard !

The government used to buy it, for one! back it Victorian days and earlier, it was used to make Oakum, used for caulking ships timbers, and so in the days of the wooden navy was an important commodity!

Umm who would pay..or use old rope?..umm...ooo...prop departments who are involved in drama productions..they may need old rope for adding to a costume..or a prop...

I once sold 150 mtrs of old rope for $50.
It was from a ski lift. Nothing wrong with it, but I think they have to replace it after it is used for a while as a saftey measure.
It was given to me by a ski dude.
