It's pretty much the same thing as doing ANYTHING for a person to make them feel special. You get embarrassed and feel like you could've done better. :P
yeah. like it sounds good in your head and then you do it and its awkward and embarrassing. maybe how we plan things to be arent as realistic as we wish they were.

Way back in the day...... and I refuse to say how long ago it was...... I heard a song and thought it was the coolest. I sang it all day and that night after a few drinks at a friend's house, when that song came on the radio, I turned the music real loud and started singing and dancing to the song..
It was right after the song ended that I realized that I was the only one who thought it was a cool song and still to this day, get embarrassed when I hear the song again. LOL
