I also dobbed in an employee of a store once when I noticed them pocket some money instead of putting it in the till. Thieves are one of the reasons the prices in stores go up, so they can recoup some of the cost of the stolen goods.

Just a note, most of the stealing that goes on in stores, is actually done by the people who work there.
No, I wouldn't, because every store has cameras and people who are hired to do that. You aren't aware that they are probablly being followed, and sometimes security will follow them from store to store (in a mall), to find out who's taking what, etc.... the more stuff they have, the easier it is to prosecute. You might be getting involved, when they already know, but they want to catch them with more stuff and find out who else is involved in the "ring". Most shoplifters don't work alone. Let the stores do their jobs. But, that's nice that you're concerned.
