If they are doing their job, quite a bit for putting up with the grumpy customers. If they are lazy, not much.
My husband used to work there. A guy came in asking for a hamburger cooked rare ( what is this? A steakhouse? ). THe cook made one. The guy complained it wasn't rare enough. The cook handed him a frozen burger on a bun. See what I mean? Fixing food for people deserves good money. People get cranky about their food.
