Will you leave an area of grass long to save moths and butterflies?!

Question: In UK common butterflies lay their eggs in long grass. By changing when you cut the long grass down from summer to late Autumn you will not be taking all the eggs away to compost.

If you leave a few long tussocks over winter then it provides habitat for butterflies and other creatures over winter.

I leave some areas in the back yard with grass....don't even let the lawn guys mow back there....so there are several areas for different kinds of things to live back there....

that is great that you care about nature...maybe it would have been better that neighborhoods didn't have to have lawns cut so short and be having mowers and leaf blowers going all the time(I live in florida...so every week someone is mowing their lawn....)

Sure, I love butterflies! I didn't know this info before about their nesting habits. Thanks!

I know now....But I presently live in Florida, U.S....!!!

An area of the grass is going to turn out longer anyways. Example: around trees, flowerbeds, etc.
