no but WE SHOULD BE PAID to scan and bag our own groceries at the 'self checkout' lanes when there's only one open line with a cashier.

They already include that in the price of groceries...So they really aren't free.

Not ever. Supermarkets should supply shoppers with whatever bags shoppers need. They ought to be happy the shopper is buying from them and not someone else. When that happens, I'll be going somewhere else that appreciates my business.

in my country, we have to pay for the plastics bags for some supermarkets. but it's still so cheap that everyone just would rather spend a few cents getting a plastic bag.
