It's very important to notice the words you used, "They make me sick..." ---because that is exactly what will happen if you keep putting up with this. Whining and complaining are tools of manipulation. You are being used and manipulated by them. You need to draw healthy boundaries and firmly and consistently stick to them. Don't put up with disrespectful or petty behavior.

My mother raised ten children. She made one meal each night and that's what we all ate. If we whined or complained we were sent to bed without supper.

--You are not the mother, so why is it your responsibility? It may be that you have been given the responsibility, but not the authority that should come with it. If you accept a responsibility, make sure you also have the authority needed to carry out the responsibility in a sane and healthy way.

Take care of yourself. Establish healthy boundaries. You can maybe get some good advice here, but what you really need is a counselor, advocate or friend whom you can see in person regularly to help you learn to handle your situation in a healthy way.

Another idea would be to hold a meeting that involves the family in planning a weekly menu, first establishing the guideline that there will be only one main course per evening. Try to get them to recognize the need for compromise and for everyone to give a little.

I'll get a glass slipper and stop by around 8:00... you be ready...

stop making whatever they want - make one meal - if they don't like it - let them make their own or they don't eat!

Oh My Gosh don't listen to the perve that answered first SICKOS!

Mine too!!!! At family get togethers, we have a nose picky contest.

Stop doing for them and let them fend for themselves, and see how they like it. You can always come and cook for me, I'm not picky.

do not spoil them,
tell them that you are tired of them asking you
for every thing always,
just tell them that you are going to do the possible but not
every thing,

Oh well, deal with it.

pick them all. they're ripe. and be done with them untill they blossom again next year....

How many in your family? I suspect you are exaggerating.

People call me picky so I can empathize. Actually I am discriminating, and will not put anything down my throat simply to please someone else. I don't think anyone should nor do I think anyone should expect them to. That said, no body has a right to have someone prepare food for them either (unless they are a little kid). Food preparation is a gift.
If you don't like it, you go without, or do something else for yourself.

But if you are preparing food and it is your desire to be appreciated, then you must make food people appreciate.
In that case, there is no point in making food no one wants, so you know what people want, decide if it is worth it to you to make it. If not, don't do it!

Is there a simplest common denominator, like cooking without onions then letting people that like them add them on their plate? I would like to hear the issues here.
I am simple. Meat, potatoes and a boiled to death vegetable.
no onions. Boring, but simple.

Do what I do. Make them a meal out of whatever you feel like and tell them that if they don't like it, they can cook whatever they'd like. If you don't have the ingredients, maybe they might have them at their own house!

tell them it is your turn then order them to make you meny stupid thing and refuse them all after only a taste or even better yet invite over a picky snoot friend or relative that they don't like while you go to a day spa a shoot of their own medicine should help them understand where you are coming from try it and let me know if it worked

cook them all they want, someday they wont be around for you to cook

that depends... do you have an axe?
