If an ebayer received a neg feedback comment would it be best 4 them to refute i!

Question: ...or to leave the space where they could have posted a reply blank?

ie: in assessing the negative feedback received by someone, is it helpful to you, to hear what they have to say in response?

if an ebayer didnt respond to a negative comment[&feedback] that had been given to them, would you be more likely to believe the negative feedback-givers accusations...as the recipient is not refuting the accusation..but letting the defamation stand unchallenged?

or do you think...allowing the neg-giver to appear to be hanging themselves with their own comments, because you dont deign to give it a response...is a better way to handle unjustified feedback from another ebayer?

If an eBay buyer gives you negative feedback it is best to contact the buyer and do everything possible to resolve the situation and have the buyer recind the negative feedback.

If it can't be resolved I would definitely refute it or at least explain the negative feedback from your point of view.

Yes I would be more inclined to believe the negative feedback if you didn't refute or explain it.

i respond as negatives are often left by people who have no idea how it all works. I got left a negative by a vinditctive seller who only deserved a neutral, he didnt like it so left me a negative just for that.....

"Refute it with a response comment"

Sometimes buyers are unreasonable or didn't read the advertisement carefully. When this occurs they want to blame the seller for their mistakes.

It is always best to get your side of the story out there...ALWAYS!!!

if i had a good reason eg postal strrikes i would out this on as it wouldnt be my fault.

the reply should not sound like an excuse though or be nasty

im an ebayer..if you get a negt feedback give them a negatev feed back hardcore style.. if postive than postive hard core style and everybody is happy at the end of the day :-)

Tricky one! if the ebayer had a good handle on the English language and did not have a tendency to fly off the handle, then maybe feedback to feedback would be a good idea. On seconds thoughts, it's an idea probably best just left alone as it would almost certainly end in strops, bloodshed and tears. You need a draw a line somewhere don't you?!

I think you should leave a comment in response to it. Otherwise people will assume that the person leaving the negative comment were in the right and whats worse the person recieving it isnt decent enough to care! In your case I would leave another comment stating that they left negative for you unjustifiably as a warning to other ebayers.

you should give a response. when i buy on ebay i alwayz check feedback and search for negatives. its best to reply coz every situation is different.
hope this helps
xx

if you feel the negative feedback is unjustified then you should reply, for example if the delivery was delayed but you sent it on time then that should be stated
if the item was damaged then the same rule applies

I thinks its best to post a reply to the neg as you look guilty otherwise, I got a neg after I gave a positive but added to this he was unfair to leave a neg without contact on a problem that could have been easily resolved.
Basically some users find it funny to be spiteful.

I would answer stating the truth, ie if they said postage and packing was too high, then simply state that if they could have bought the item cheaper including postage and packing elsewhere then they should have done so.

Hope this helps and have a nice day

Always refute the negative feedback especially if you felt the person didn't work with you from the start. My only negative feedback was from a person who found a crack in a vase sent by mail, she didn't ask for a refund nor did she send it back to me. So I refuted by saying she didn't email me just left negative feedback without any communication. I think she was just an old crabby lady from Florida.
If the seller doesn't refute the claim they either decided it wasn't worth hassling with a response or it was truth.
If the buyer has a lot of negative comments towards sellers a seller can block a buyer from ever buying from them and avoiding conflict alltogether.
I didn't receive an item from a seller once, after researching his feedback to others I found he hadn't responded for 2 months; which meant he was either sick or on vacation. I gave him a neutral comment figuring he was sick and there was no one to watch over his ebay site.. He got many negative feedbacks like 11 in a row. Finally he pulled all his items for sale. I felt sorry for the guy, no seller wants to get hit like that especially through no fault of their own.

i have always gotten positive feedback on ebay for the past 4 years. But ebay is of absolutely no importance or concern to me as i don't rely on it for any kind of income whatsoever.

I'm basically a full time student, but if i ever got negative feedback, my reaction would be ---

"hell with it! what a douchebag"

i'd just forget and pay no attention. ebay isn't my boss or professor that i care much.

I think a response should be given in ALL circumstances. It gives the seller a chance to refute the claims given by the negative feedback giver, or an apology to the buyer for the reason for the neg - feedback.
The main reason for negative feedback is usually easily remedied by contacting the seller directly before giving feedback. But many people jump straight it and give neg -feedback without giving the seller a chance to correct whatever problem exists.
I bought a book, which was delivered but the wrong title turned up. I e-mailed the seller, and they apologised, sent the correct book, AND the return postage for the wrong book. Problem solved and they get good (at least fair) feedback

I buy and sell on E Bay, and I always check Feedback, I definitely think that you should respond to the negative comment, because future buyers will see what your side of the "problem" was.

I only wish, before people put a negative comment, they would contact the seller first, to try and resolve the problem, as most times, it could be resolved and therefore no negative feedback.

answer it in the nicest possible way! by lowering yourself to their standards you become the nasty person they are. i had neg feedback left by someone, it should have only really been neutral but he was spiteful. In my anger, i retaliated - he ruined my 100% positive feedback so i did exactly the same to him - very childish as both parties came off badly. Think long and hard before you leave feedback as it cannot be removed after posting.
