My parents used to spank us but only as a last resort. We would get put on restrictions alot, couldn't watch the T.V. nowadays you can take away computer time, Ipods, video games. we also had to go to bed early or write 200-500 word essays on being obedient, on respecting our parents what it meant to be a teenager vs an adult ( When we were adults my mom had saved them and let us read what we had wrote, too funny) anyway as far as spankings went I never got one I did not deserve and before I got one my parents explained why I was getting it, and sometimes my mom would wait until later in the day or even the following day. when I got older I ask her why she waited she said It gave me time to think about what I had done, and usually she was alot calmer and not so angry, she said she never wanted to beat us out of anger . but spank/discipline us out of love because spankings are meant to be used to teach a lesson not as an abusive act. Which I fell parents today don't take the time with a child to let them know what they done wrong, let them talk about how to prevent it from happening again etc

What are your thoughts on drinking water? lol... I'm just kidding, but really, I do think spanking is necessary, although you could replace it with grounding or whatever else if you wanted to.
