Yes, what it is is a normal screen like the old big ones but the actual part that displays the picture is flat, the old ones used to bulge out a bit.

No you can get a flat screen CRT TV .. they were advertised as such a few years ago before the LCD and plasma screens came out..
Imagine a CRT tube like a light bulb (CRT is the old fashioned non LCD or Plasma screen).. well the flat screen CRT tube looked like that except the viewing end (the widest part of the bulb) had a flat viewing surface
