I don't how old your mom is but old people always keep their homes roasting. My ex in-laws use to keep their heat at around 90 i think. It was boiling! I'd go out in the snow just to cool down.
My apartment is 22C (71F)
my house is the temperature of outside.. whichhh issssssss....... 34 degrees.

I'm in a dorm that keeps the temp at around 80 degrees... I have the window wide open and the fan blowing. It's ridiculous.

I usually keep it at 70-72. My mom is the opposite of yours - she likes to keep it cool - usually about 64, which is a little chilly for me.
We've had a heat wave and it is 76 degrees in my house and my heat is turned off! January in the Chicago area is never this warm so we are all a bit freaked out!

Uffda! That's hot, and unhealthy. If mom is always cold, tell her to put another sweater, and move around more. We keep the temp at 67 or 68 during the day during the winter, and 65 or 66 at night. Summer, when we have to have the AC on. it's kept at 75 or 76/77.

haha i keep switching the aircon on to 17 degrees celcius, and then off again (coz im a good little environmentalist,) then deciding the environment can go jump because quite frankly, if its going to turn up the heat to 40 degrees, it simply cannot expect me not to retaliate!

I don't know what the temp is in my little hideway. I have the unit set on Low Heat and I have it just a little past the blue swirl into the beginning of the red swirl. See, I have this unit with controls like a motel room. I guess it is probably about 70 in there most of the time.
I bet your mom likes it down to 60 in August, doesn't she? :P
