When was the last time you were near a natural disaster or fire or earthquake, f!

Question: about 2 months ago i had to temporarily evacuate my apartment during the "Orange County/San Diego/California fires"

Thank God the wind and the fire fighters put it out before it came near my place...but they did ask us to evacuate as a precaution and there was so much smoke it was hard to breathe and the sky was red and it felt like hell....you ccould see the fires from my place and it look really dangerous

how bout you?

Most recently, over the summer two tornado's touched down near my home and flattened a few barns in the area. Some cattle were killed.
Last year my sister lost her home to flooding and my father had severe flood damage to his home. Many people lost everything they owned.
I volunteered this past year in Mississippi to help rebuild homes lost to hurricane Katrina. The devastation can still be seen and felt there.

2005 Hurricane Rita, Louisiana

hurrican Wilma in florida in 2006

Oh wow.. well I'm glad to hear that you're alright!! :)

Um.. this past summer there was like 3 tornadoes in one night right near my town.. and when you went out the front door (we live on the outskirts of town).. you could see the tornadoes just outside of town.. it was pretty scary.. I knew some people that had their farms completely ripped away... it was really bad..

I have seen and been near wild fires and floods, but the one that stays most prevelant in my memory is the two times Mt. St. Helens in Washington State erupted. I lived 20 air miles west of the Mountain and it was quite the experience watching the ash and steam rise and the damage done from it the first time, then waking the morning of the second "explosion" and having it look like the middle of the night at 8:00 AM, "snowing" ash. You could not see 2 feet in front of you, due to the volume of ash falling. Quite the experiences!!

a few years back, an earthquake. plus lots of flooding in the general area every year..

I 'm right there w/you PJ
the fires were all around me and the family! The smoke and ash was bad.
I took of with the whole dang crew(hubby was deployed at the time)
