Can you help me with quitting smoking?!

Question: I can handle the not smoking (I think) but what tricks do you know of to help? I've been smoking for 25 years. I cut my smoking in half already since New Year's Day and I'm starting with the Nicotine Gum on Monday with no smoking at all. I don't want to gain weight! I promised my son and I need all the help I can get.

GOOD LUCK!!!!! wish i had some good advice then I would take it myself

go to your near st pharmacist and they can help you when you need to smoke take a bath or drink some think or gum try to be busy don't think of it it's bad think.

Smoking makes your hair and skin dull, nails crusty, and teeth gross and sags you out.

You need to develop some other bad habit. Like biting your nails.
I stopped my bad habbit by starting to bite my bottom lip.

i'm only 16 and have been smoking for about a year, i really want to quit, but i really only cut back to like 8 a day. so i feel your pain! anyway i hope this helps and good luck!!

For Cravings:

Drink a lot of liquids, especially water. Try herbal teas or fruit juices. Limit coffee, soft drinks, or alcohol—they can increase your urge to smoke.

Avoid sugar and fatty food. Try low-calorie foods for snacking—carrots and other vegetables, sugarless gum, air-popped popcorn, or low-fat cottage cheese. Don’t skip meals.

Exercise regularly and moderately. Regular exercise helps. Joining an exercise group provides a healthy activity and a new routine.
Get more sleep. Try to go to sleep earlier and get more rest.

Take deep breaths. Distract yourself. When cravings hit, do something else immediately, such as talking to someone, getting busy with a task, or taking deep breaths.

Change your habits. Use a different route to work, eat breakfast in a different place, or get up from the table right away after eating.

stop completely and chew gum...it worked for me 5 years ago..good luck

Talk to your doctor, they have medication now that seems to work pretty well. I've had a few friends use it and quit.

I smoked 3 packs a day for 34 years and quit 2 years ago. There's only one way to do it, and thats just throw them away and quit. Its all in your willpower. You gotta take control and be stronger than your urges, which will pass...give it a day at a time, you can do it! My mom, my husband, and 3 of my sisters all quit the same way. Yes it can be done. Dont waste your money on gimics, just quit!...Good Luck to you.

Chewing gum can help, and use a pen, pencil, straw, etc. for the hand to mouth motion that you are so used to.
