Obdurate! dictionary word of the day from google mail. Do you know the word?!

Question: I wonder if the computer randomly picks words out or whether a little bloke eating a bag of cheese and onion crisps picks them each day?

Someone who is hard to move from their point of view, obstinate, a stubbornness. As to the selection, why don't you go to the site and write to their contact email and ask. That would clarify your question of whether it is a computer with chips or a little bloke with cheese and onion crisps... perhaps he only likes the plain salted ones?

Cheers and have a great week.

Stubborn, hard, unyielding, isnt it?

nope

No.

My English teacher used to call me that. That and Incorrigible

have no clue what that means

I have heard the word but only in similar circumstances - eg word quizzes!!

I would guess that it means "stubborn" but wouldn't bet on it.

i like the image of the little bloke eating a bag of crisps....and I think all these antiquated words should be left in Room 101 with a big farting noise every time one of them disappears forever down the shoot!!

Hahaha, I can just imagine some poor bloke sitting at a computer, flicking through a dictionary, finding a page then closing his eyes and randomly picking a word!

I looked up the word, Obdurate means unmoved by persuasion, pity, or tender feelings; stubborn; unyielding.

Me thinks a college English professor actually picks the word of the day. :)

I do now, but I cheated.

I have a freebie utility called WordWeb. It's great. Gives definitions, synonyms and antonyms.

In the dictionary, it means 1. Unmoved by or hardened against human feelings or moral influence. 2. difficult to handle or manage. 3. intractable 4. hardheartedness. See OBSTINATE
