That is very generous. I have my mom dad and sister (she is considerably older than I am) If I won 3 million, I would just pay off all their debt, mortgages and car loans and such. That would likely be far less than a million, but still be a very nice gesture. I would honestly give more to my gf's family, they need it much more than my family does. I would keep at least half of it, considering about half goes to taxes. I would probably not change my life style at all, and just retire much earlier. That would be much more fun for me in the long run anyhow. The worst of it would be splitting it up between enough banks so that it is all insured. They will only insure up to 100, 000 and I don't know about you, but I would be pretty upset if I lost 900,000 because the bank had some sort of problem.

Generous. You don't have to give anyone a dime. I personally would give certain family members money, give some to animal causes, and then laugh at the folks who come out of the woodwork.
I think that's very generous! I would definitely help out my immediate family, but I wouldn't dole out chunks of change. I would pay for my brother's student loans and buy him a car, then I would buy my mom a new house in the neighborhood she wanted. Some may think I'm selfish, but it's my fantasy!
