When someone is talking smack, it can mean 2 things.
1. They are being rude and mean to someone.
or
2. They are bragging (competitively speaking) an example would be "Yeah, we all saw how the Cowboys destroyed the indians. You think you can do better than that???"
Bragging, insulting or claiming superiority over another, sometimes just for fun, sometimes not.
