WHY are people behind CASH REGISTERS so NASTY? i always compliment the few cheer!
Question: I try to if they even bother to acknowledge that I am there and that I am a paying customer. Whats with these people? They sure dont know anything about customer service.

as a former cashier myself, I can tell you that those few cheery ones do indeed deserve the compliments, because let me tell you, it is really hard to maintain a light attitude when you've got customers treating you like you're sub-human for 8 to 10 hours a day
I used to work behind a cash register and I was awesome. :D I even talked with a fake accent to entertain all the patrons. You should have stopped by.
Do you really blame them? I mean that can't be a very rewarding job.
That used to bug me until I called a company's customer service line today and got someone over in Asia who didn't speak English, got scared by my question and hung up.
Somehow the cashier doesn't seem so bad.....
Well for one their job is very boring so I guess they feel the need to take it out on customers.

Well I can sorta see why they are so crabby. They have to deal with rude people all day long.. Well I mean not everyone is rude but after a while of that crappy job I can see why they act the way they do.
No. I don't give a damn about them and I expect no more from them than accuracy in the transaction. It's no part of their job to fawn over me.
I worked at a grocery store for years. I was yelled at, cussed at, and treated like a garbage by so many customers. Sometimes it was so hard to keep up the "nice act" if you had to deal with a lot of those unpleasant people that day. I tried to explain to people that i didn't make the prices...they just don't get it. Then there are a few cashiers that just hate life and have no people skills. I was not one of those.
