HELP! My sister feels ugly! What do I do???With pic!?!


Question: Well, my little sister thinks she's very ugly. Many people comment her on her "Big Nose." I don't think she has a big nose. She always puts herself down . I tried talking to cheer her up and tell her that she is beautiful. She thinks that I am lying, and she says that she needs a fairy godmother to fix her up. I feel bad for her, what do i do?

I'm an older guy but I would have loved to have had a nice looking young woman like her were I her age. In fact, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have even approached her, figuring she's way out of my league.

Breaking a life-long habit of low self-esteem is difficult, but it can be done. She sounds like she's letting the negative comments of others affect the way she feels because they feed directly into how she feels about herself inside. She is basically saying to herself, "See, I am right, they don't like me so there is something wrong with me." It's a vicious, circular reasoning, self-feeding, cycle, but she can break it.

There are articles aplenty on the Web for boosting self-esteem. Basically it comes down to you are what you think, if you understand what I mean by that.

    She has really pretty eyes. A lot of girls feel that way, keep telling her she's beautiful, and have her think positive thoughts. Hopefully she will eventually give in and except herself for who she is.

    I think its those silly comments that's really puttin her down, and its not uncommon for someone to feel insecure about her own image. You need to help her understand that there's absolutely nothing wrong with her nose. her nose is fine, her eyes are beautiful, there's nothing for fairy godmother to fix.
    All she needs is some make up. Like foundation for the bags under her eyes and for her freckles. Some eye liner and mascara then she'll look great. You can make her "big nose" smaller by but some that powder make up...i guess blush on the right side and left side of her nose that gives it a slimmer look and smaller look. For this to work she would have to get blush close to the color of her skin. She's ok just some make up is needed.

    Tell her that she has the most beautiful blue/grey eyes (no homo) and a mouth girls would kill for. Tell her that no one can make her feel inferior without her consent, and the only person that is holding her back is herself. Tell those haters to worry about their own noses, goodness knows some people need to...Make sure she knows that she needs to be comfortable in her own skin.
    People who comment like that are just shallow. Shes beautiful. It may just take a guy to love her and make her feel beautiful for her to truely be convienced.

    Tell her I said she has nice hair color,her tiny freckles accent her clear,natural skin,and her eyes are a awesome color..I'd like to have her as my beautiful sister..
    She is pretty and has lots of potential..I agree about the nose, mine is kinda big too but its easy to downplay if you have a pretty face..like me..and your sister..so just look up online makeup tips to downplay a slightly big nose...She has a lot of other pretty features so once you help her with her makeup maybe it will give her the confidence she needs...Seriously, tell her she is pretty and NO ONE is perfect really. The only perfect people are in Hollywood and have tons of money for nose jobs and boob jobs and that sort of thing. Just help give her a makeup make over and try and boost her confidence. Sometimes new makeup and outfits make a girl freel pretty / special.
    Everybody has something about themselves they don't like. Tell her to play up her good features. Her smile, eyes, etc. If she focuses on one bad thing it will ruin the rest of the good things for her.
    Yeah, she's cute, though her eyes look as if she's been crying in this picture. The big nose doesn't make her ugly; Cleopatra's was bigger, ya know?

    A little make-up would help a lot, too.
