Topics like that should definitely be talked about at the appropriate age. pedophiles, drugs, sex, violence, etc. All that is a parents job.
It is the real world out there, I wouldn't send them out of the nest unarmed.
I have an 18 yr. old who I would like to think was taught well and a 9 year old that is getting the lighter version for now.
