Full dinner reception at a wedding or dessert reception?!

Question: I think it depends on the time of day. If when the wedding is over and it's time for the reception and it's dinner time your guest will be expecting dinner. If it is an evening wedding you can get away with a dessert reception. If it's only going to be dessert, that should be mentioned on the invitations, so people don't show up expecting a full meal

one question for you... is your family a bunch of hillbillies or high class society people?

If they're hilbillies, put some opossum on a plate and serve it over motor oil. If theyre high class livin' folk and they fly from California to New York, they'd expect at least some chittlin's on the plate in front of them.

It's your wedding and you are paying for it, so ANYTHING you want is fine and everyone will love it no matter what...if you're only doing dessert, be sure to put that on the invitation so everyone will know to grab a little bite beforehand.

We served ONLY appetizers at our wedding and there was plenty to go around (and it saved us over $1500)....the dessert was the cake.
