Question: When in reverse, do you keep your head turned the whole time toward the direction you are going?
Before backing up do you do everything possible to insure no small child is behind your vehicle?
I ask because I have read 3 tragic stories of small children getting backed over and killed recently.

I've got a 2 million mile NTSB safe driver award and I put on an average of 128,000 miles a year, with no accidents, tickets or incidences, so yes I think I am. and I don't move my truck until I'm SURE nothing is behind me.
I'm not a safe driver at all, that's why I stopped driving.

Yeah, well I've been driving for 38 years without so much as a fender bender so I must be. ~~knocks wood~~ NO tickets.
My foster sister's husband backed over and killed their 2 y/o. So sad.
My sponsor just got a new car that you can see behind you on a screen or something. I was only half listening. lol
Depending on where I am, I either use my mirrors or look back.

I am a very safe driver. I know if any kids around, whether they are mine or not, I tell them to get out of the driveway and road so I can back up. I expect any of my other neighbors to do the same with my son but he knows better. There are a lot of kids out here.
over 25 years of driving and never hit anyone or anything, so yes, I sould be considered a safe driver and I did all those things you said (except back over a child!)

I think I'm a good driver. No accidents, very aware of the people/cars around me. Always look for children.
The stories I've heard about children and accidents just makes my blood boil....it's so horrible, but you have the parents to blame just as much as the drivers. If parents actually watched their children they'd be able to prevent their child from running out into the road, etc. I was raised to always look for cars before moving. My nephew is 4 and we've never had a problem with him leaving the yard- not even to go after a ball or the dog. He asks first.

I think I'm a pretty safe driver, I've only gotten one speeding ticket. I dont drive too fast and not to slow either.

Safe or good. im a good driver. i drove home doing 80kmh in a 50 zone. but im a good driver. which kinda makes me safe. but i see ur point. there are too many accidents caused by people simply not paying attention. like at my school, at one point there were three accidents in 3 days. 4 or 5 deaths in 3 years. pretty bad. if u dont believe me google crash at eagle butte
i always drive safe of course, if only more ppl took the same precautions, the streets would be alot more safer!

being that i have a samll child yes i do look out for other so i would say yes
when in reverse, i rely on my side mirrors.. fortunately, i haven't run over children or any person for that matter.
Yes, very safe driver especially when the car is not moving. LOL
Yes I do everything I can to insure there is nothing behind me when I back up. I heard about those same accidents too, very terrible for all concerned.
