Sorry but maybe the parents should have been parenting. For that to happen they must not have been watching the child at all. The parents should be punished.

Gosh that is just awful, those poor people

yeah i saw that.

:(

when are people going to learn that these dogs are vicious, brutal things. so many people have been injured or killed by them. i personally think that these dogs should always be muzzled, or they should be shot. they are not ideal for pets. the number of deaths has proved it.

that almost made me cry but surely the family knew that the dog was dangerous

I think it just goes to show these sort of dogs & small children don't mix, think the first news story of 2007 was a similair story, I think dogs are misunderstood to a degree & there could be a possible jelousy factor involved when sad things like this happen?

Yes very sad...but when will people learn that fighting dogs and children don't mix? It is only 12 months ago that a little girl in the north-west was savaged to death by a similar dog. Is it worth the risk of letting them be in contact with each other?????

OH NO ....
MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PEACE ...

WHO LET THE DOG OFF THE LISH.....TROUBLE / BIG **** ! HOW COULD THEY !

Condolences to the family !

omg my heart goes out to them aswell

Aww that is awful, that poor family.
xx

I can't imagine the unbearable guilt the family members that owned the dog must feel! What a sad, sad story for everyone involved!

so sad

It made me cry too, my heart goes out to the family, i can't imagine what they must be going through.

My 1 year old nephew was attacked by our 'family dog' 3 months ago, he was so lucky though and has only been left with a few scars on his face. Reading this has reminded me how lucky we are that my nephew is still with us.

Alot of people are saying how Rottweillers are dangerous dogs and i agree with this wholeheartedly. i also would like to point out that ALL dogs can be dangerous around small children. My nephew was attacked by our Springer Spaniel who we'd had for 10 years and had never shown any signs of aggression.

very very sad.over here yesterday a 9week old baby was killed by the family dog,it grabbed the baby from the cot.sad sad sad.

yes its not a nice thing to happen at this time of the year or anytime for that mater it saddens me to think i use to love the rotty bread, some thing sparked it off to attack this poor child maybe a toy of some sort

well i doo feel for the child but i think i have a different view from other people you should not get a dog of this kind or any of the other breed similar if you do not know how to look after it properly its like bringing up a child you do it right and you reep the rewards you do it wrong and catastrophy people get these dogs as a status but just dont know how to learn them the right way which is not shouting hitting them etc i believe our country should pass a law that you have to do a certain amount of studying and training before you can get these dogs and all dogs can kill even the little yorkshire terriers this child was let down by our pathetic dog laws and family that thought they could bring any beast into the family home it should be like a shot gun you should need certificates and handling courses etc let the little child sleep in peace now god bless it

That is very sad...and should remind people never to leave a child for even a second with ANY dog........

yes, its a horrible thing to happen and to hear about. i hope the baby now rests in peace.

why dont people learn about having dogs like this around children?

Why do people leave their children alone with any dog - they all have natural instincts to attack, poor parents.
Glad they shot the damn dog!!

its so so very sad.... i saw it earlier and could only read the headline...
whenever my 3 year old is out with me and i see a 'fighting' breed of dog i instinctively pick her up... there has been far too many attacks on kids by these type of dogs for me to ignore the fact she is a potential victim of theirs!

i pray for all of them as well.
i think someone else stated this before i did, but some dogs ARE misunderstood and they become jealous of the new children because they've been stripped of their affection/attention. i don't think families with young children should own these types of dogs nor should the two ever come in contact. it doesn't mean that all these dogs are simply vicious and should be gotten rid of, they just don't mix.

yeh i no i felt like hugging the tv

yes hun, thought it was terrible, why keep a dog like that in the open with children around

star time

That is awful. You have to wonder why on earth people keep dogs that are so violent. I mean my dogs might bark at the postman but they'd never bite!

It makes you feel sick inside ,Just listenng to it,How would you ever get over something like that ,My Son has a Cocker Spaniel who snapped at his Grandaughter suddenly and without warning,,and I have a Shih Tzu ,who looks like Buster off of Paul O Grady which makes him appealling to children, he has snapped at my Grandson ,Male Dogs are jealous of Children ,Bitches seem to be more Placid ,I havent seen if the Rottie was a Male Dog ,We Keep the dogs away from Children ,If I see a Child coming when I am walking him ,I will walk out of my way as Children want to pet dogs ,and I would no way trust Him ,iI feel awful telling the parents they cant ,but its better to be safe than sorry ,Hes only small but he has sharp little teeth,This sort of thing is happening too often ,very sad,Sadly its not usually the Parents dog is it ,Somebody else in the family,My Little Dog goes in the bedroom when my Grandchildren come to see me,

feel sorry of the family. but any dog should not be left with any child.

I DO NOT know the facts of this SADNESS. I KNOW THIS. A new arrival in a dogs world, can sometimes seem intrusive TO THE DOMESTICATED ANIMAL . GARRY XXXXX http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=IWJDLgfzNg... ALWAYS be awear of the green eyed monster.

so sad..
