If they worked then those girls obviously didn't recognize them as "pick lines". The key thing is to NOT make it sound or seem like a pick up line.

JK... I know your not. Anyway telling her that she is the hottest girl in the room is a good start. Also when you are around her don't act all cool and macho, like me you know that you are superior of something dumb like that... yea not a good idea it looks 'big-headed' and most girls don't like that. Also most pick- up lines don't work because girls are smart enough to know that they are pickup lines and most are cheesy anyway. Hoped that helped. See Ya!
