You're going to need a membership to Blockbuster. Regardless of how you pay, they're not going to loan you a movie if you haven't agreed to their terms of service (to return it on time, take care of it, etc.) and they're also going to need your contact information in case you don't return their movies. If you don't sign up with them, you won't be able to rent. Now if you're interested in buying merchandise there, i.e. movies or memorabilia, you might be able to get away without a membership.
You will need a membership card to rent the movies- a very easy thing to get. You could also spend the gift card on purchasing ex rentals if you didnt want to become a member.
