it is wrong.. morally, ethically, and conscientiously wrong.
first of all, it is a lie that you cheated the people associated with the charity org. and It should never be allowed with the purpose to conceal your immorality and greed.
second of all, that you consumed something that you basically had to make profits of, is a crime. it is a pilferage like you stole the property of someone else's by consuming it for your own enjoyment.
thirdly, you are actually victimizing innocent group of people by calling them muggers and claiming they took the candies away from you.
fourthly, you are worsening this incident by suspecting uncertain and illusive individuals because there are possibilities of legal, police and investigative involvement in this case to figure out and accuse the muggers in future, then it's going to be more complicated because of your lie.
so it shouldn't have even started by eating the candies you were supposed to sell. Or, you should take the responsibilities of the monetary loss and compensate the organization for the price of candies.
