My parents did - then it broke. Besides, who wants to be woken up by someone next to you clapping at three AM? Then they graduated to the lamp where you touch it anywhere to turn it on. But they didn't reach up high enough when in a half-asleep state. So that had to go. Now, they've graduated to the sliding switch next to the bed on the nightstand. The evolution continues....
