Why would a ballpoint pen not be safe for airplane use?!
Question: I got a pack of ballpoint pens today, just your typical pens you can find anywhere. On the back it says "now safe for airplane use". I think it has to do with the ink in it? I've been wondering what that has to do with airplanes.

When going down/up in an airplane the cabin pressure changes, a sealed pen full of the ground air pressure and ink, it is possible to explode. Some how this pen company fixed that issue---not sure how, sorry.
nothing is safe in an airplane anymore
i think its cause it will explode on a plane, i had one do that to me this summer, i got everywhere!!!!!!!!!!

the pen could be used as a weapon or some thing!!!
They feel that you can stab someone with it. I guess if you're strong enough you can do some damage with one.

You can make explosive out of the ink mixed with other things together, I belief.
yeh it might have to with the fact of the ink, where the pen comes from or if u look crazy or not LOL!

uhm well lets think for a second a pen is sharp and guess what psycho's will use whatever they can to hurt someone... would you think a ballpoint pen is safe to stab someone with... yeahh i didnt think so ...stop complaining and just dont bring one on a plane it's not that big of a deal...
The pen could "explode". Of course the ink is made of led also. I just say that the Security is ridiculous.
it can mean many things the fact that some strange person could asemble the pen and put drugs in the pen and try to get on the plane with it. but then you might just have it on you for genrall use but it has a sort of point on it that makes it unsafe to carry in case it was used as a wepon? but these days you can only basically take clothes on the plane its limited hey!
no i guess it's because it can be used as a weapon for some violent purposes especially due to the influence of the terrorism and stuffs like that.. there are lots of limits and restrictions on belongings you can or cannot carry in the plane.
