Poll: Why would anyone try to be your contact when you request that they contact!

I mean they ant you to write to them before adding them, but they don't look at your profile first to see that you have the same request, nor do they offer you the same courtesy they want from everyone else. She seems cool, but I blocked her anyway out of principle

She probably didn't take the time to read your profile, the ones that look cool can still burn you. You are right it's the principle.Some of my recent request the past couple of days have come out of the blue. I have no clue who they are and they have never answered one of my questions and do not have any of my contacts.I'm blocking like crazy.
Some people have an exaggerated sense of self importance.
that does seem a bit odd. I never add a contact without first looking at their profile.

I got a very peculiar one like that myself last week I believe.
I couldn't make sense of it at all. So I hit delete.
