Is 50 to young to retire?!

Question: I'm trying to talk my husband into retiring next year so we can play and travel. I think its the perfect age because you still have a lot of good health and energy. Still young. What do you think?

if you can afford it, then definately go for it.

i think its too early. Wait till you're 60. If you feel its time to retire and you're financially secure, do it and retire! If you're not sure yet, work a bit longer.

wait till u hit 60

If I could afford it, I would!

Do you have enough money?

no age is too young as long as you can afford it....

If you an afford it,why not?

Not as long as you can keep busy, my dad did and then 6 months later went and bought a business.

Good luck

I think 40 should be when everybody retires...thats just me!!

i think it sounds like a plan.
50 isn't too young to retire.

Most would love to retire at that age. If he has enough money outside of retirement accounts, he could.

a little too young i mean he has 15 years left but if he does retire then who is going to pay the bills??

It depends on your money situation. If you can afford it, sure, I would do it, but if you need cash, work another 5-10 years

i think it is a perfect age too because if ur 60 u don't have that much of life ahead of u but 50 u do!

When I am 50 I would love to be able to retire.

Yes, only because then you just don't do as much. My grandfather is 96 and still alive and healthy i think it keeps you healthy and modifates you. But if he hates his job then he should take up a new career. And start fresh

that age is too young to retire
just coz ur old u cant giv up ur career
come on
enjoy ur career
and also
dont u wanna earn money for a good living

I think it's a great age if finances are secure. That way you still are able to travel and enjoy many activities! Go for it and enjoy your time!

retire when your ready. my grandpa's 81 and he hasn't retired so its your choice.

It is the perfect time to retire and do the things that you might not feel like doing when you get older. My sister-in-law retired at 50 and so far has really enjoyed doing many different activities.

If you can efford it, try 30 FCOL!

If you can afford it, go ahead! Who wants to spend their waking days working and doing something they really don't want to do? Nobody! Hell, i'm hoping something good happens to me so i can retire at 30!

depends, main questions to ask our are you ready ? financially, physically and mentally for such a change. and if so go for it and if not then work a little longer and have good retirement whenever it happens =) ...

I think it's just the perfect age to retire because you still are a little young and that gives you plenty of time to do bunches of things you've always wanted to do like go traveling and have fun! It's all part of life!

I think 50 is too young in my opinion. Your husband still has many years before him and he might get bored if he doesn't have a purpose like a job. Plus, a job is a great for social interactions and without the job, yout husband might get extremely bored (and sloppy!) without one.

Try waiting until like 60, or a few years before. :)

Yes i agree i think when men and women get to 50 they should retire. Because they are still have there health and they need time to go place and see people you haven't seen in a while so I think that is a great time to retire.

lots of people retire then. Think about it, teachers only have to put in 20 years before they retire, and if you start when you're 23, then you'd be 43! Tell him to hang loose and retire, if he wants to keep working he can always work, but you can't get back lost time! And you're still young enough to go out and do things that won't be as easy 15 years from now.

I don't think anyone is too young to retire, if you can afford, and have no need to work any longer more power to you, its not a question if your too young to retire, but more like are you financially stable enough and are you ready to retire, if i could, i would retire at fourty.

Well, you have to be sure that he'll enjoy retirement, because the true enjoyment of retirement comes from not having to work so much, and if he still feels the need to work, then he needs to stay. Also, when he finally retires he has to have plenty of things to do to fill up the time he usually worked in, because otherwise he'll feel like he has too much time

If you are financially secure AND he hasn't any unfulfilled ambitions or dreams (work wise) that can still be realized go for it. At 60 you will in any case still be young enough to do whatever you're planning to now.

only if you can't afford it otherwise get a bumper sticker saying "were spending the children's inheritance"
