It's corny but sometimes you have to say such word, especially (1) when you are not in the mood, and (2) when you have to take shots over and over, as in print ad modelling, that you lose the energy and enthusiasm to smile naturally.
When you say "cheese", your upper and lower sets of teeth touch each other and that smile looks restrained. Try saying "Wednesday" instead. The smile looks better.
