When you choose to be in the public eye by being on t.v or a singer or whatever, you are a role model whether you like it or not. What is she saying to the children that watch her show? It's very irresponsible of her to get pregnant at her age whether she is an actress or not. It doesn't matter if she can afford it or not, kids now a days just don't think things through.

No, she's not. The big hullaballoo is about her being Britney Spears' sister. First, Britney Spears can't even take care of her two kids, so how will her 16 year old sister take care of one? Second, she was probably supposed to be the one that would stay "normal" and not be like Britney. And, lastly, the media is just doing what they do best and having a field day. Not only do they have one screwed up Spears, but now, TWO! It's like an early Christmas present for them. It's sad to say, but many people in this society thrive off of the plight of others. Instead of wishing them the best, they make things harder for them. We just need to pray and keep our strength against vultures like that : )

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you really are NOT an ignorant person, and try to address this question in plain, simple terms.
Jaime is a role model for teen and tween girls.
Role models have a tremendous amount of influence on what other people will or won't do.
Prior to her pregnancy, Jamie projected the wholesome image of a good girl.
In a time when much of the media exposes children (and lest you have forgotten, Jaime is a child) to sexual images, Jamies' television show was positive, uplifting and free of promiscuous behavior.
Now, unless your parents are selling you for sex with older guys, then the odds are pretty good that your folks WANT you to be a good person.
And they would prefer you watch a healthy television show rather than something with a lot of horny teens getting it on.
On a purely health point of view, teen pregnancies typically cause all sorts of problems for the baby.
Most teen girls do not get proper (if any) pre-natal care.
Low birth weight is the norm for teen pregnancies.
If you are ignorant on the consequences of these problems, then you really need to wise up and understand what this means to our society.
And finally, on a legal note: the age of consent in Louisiana is 17.
Technically, Jamies' sperm-donor could be charged with rape.
To wrap it up:
Jamie, the good-girl role model, has been revealed to be immoral, unwed and knocked up.
Her older sister certainly isn't going to be voted "mom of the year", and the odds don't favor Jamie's baby having any better care from a know-nothing 16-year old.
Her television role as a squeaky-clean girl is greatly tarnished and the signal for those girls out there who relied on that good-girl image now opens the way for promiscuous behavior.
In short, expect higher teen pregnancy rates for 2008.
