Yes.

I've been on my own since I was 16 yrs. old. So lots of opportunity and freedom.

It worked out fine, but in retrospect, I think I was in some dangerous situations as times and didn't realize it. That was also over 10 years ago and a lot has changed.

If your younger, I would suggest traveling to another state with your friend or family member. I think in this day and age it can be too dangerous.

i traveled on a greyhound when i was 18 first time out by myself ..from kentucky to denver colorado..i met some wild people and went to some strange places i would never do that again...

yes......I was 30 years old when I did it and it worked out fine for me.

i travelled to another prvonce by myself...went to toronto, people back home thought i was crazy..but i really enjoyed myself and it was great that i could go where ever and no one knew me...i would do it again !!!

Many states, many times.
I love to travel alone on photographic expeditions.
Always worked out well.
Nevada, New Mexico, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Alaska and Hawaii. I live in California .
Wow, I'm starting to impress myself.

it went good... i have an 1200 watt amp and two 12 inch speakers in my car and i jammed all the way there..

i go to pennsylvania (i am from west virginia) by myself, because my boyfriend is a boss on a drilling rig there... and i go see him alot and i he is the best man i have ever had.. ;) it isnt going to be in pennsylvania too much longer though.. :)

yes.. at 18 i flew to another province and at 21 to another country (here in the US).both all by myself. scary &nerve racking experience but it turned out fine :)

I've been all over the country by myself, including Alaska and even foreign countries like Mexico and Texas (I know, but I don't like Texas) by myself. Never had any problems, but I always kept my cool and didn't do stupid stuff.
First time I was 16 and went from California to Florida on a motorcycle.
It was a cool trip.

i'm 19 right now, and i plan to when i graduate college.

Sure, in the 70's I hitch hiked all over the United States, by myself. Just wanted to see the country up close. Did that for almost a year and a half.

Met some wild and crazy folks, also some great folks who would give you the shirt off their backs.

I did odd jobs (and some were odd) to make money. I did some farm work picking crops in Texas, painted houses, did clean up at construction sites.

Spent almost 2 weeks at an old ladies house. She had no one to help her with anything, she had no family and she lived in the middle of BFE in the panhandle of Oklahoma.

She fed me 3 squares, washed my clothes and I slept in her back bedroom (large closet). At the end of the 2 weeks, she gave me $200, a new pair of walking shoes and a good sized sack of food.

In exchange I had fixed the roof leak on her house, painted her garage and work building, rebuilt the back stairs from her house to her yard, chopped down 2 dead trees and some other small jobs. I was busy the whole time and I enjoyed the entire 2 weeks.

I kept in touch with her for almost 12 years after that, until she died in 1985.

Had a man pull over on the side of the road when I was walking in California. He was dressed like a dirt-poor farmer and he was driving a dog of a pickup truck. He handed me a bag of McDonalds burgers and a $10 bill. All he said was be careful walking out here. Didn't say why to be careful, or anything like that, he just left me there with the burgers and the money. (Weird)

Got robbed in Arkansas by a couple of Mexicans. Nothing traumatic, they just showed the knife and asked for the wallet. I gave it to them and they got a couple bucks, enough for them to be satisfied. Good thing they didn’t look in my cereal box, I kept most of my bills under the wax bag that held the cereal.

Don’t get all excited about some Mexicans robbing me; it could have been done by anyone.

Some of the best people I met were illegals (not all illegals are Mexican by the way). I worked picking crops with them when I needed money. Their just like you and I, they want what’s best for their families. Their opportunities are greatly restricted south of the border as compared to here. If I were one of them I’d come here too.

They would hardly have a pot to piss in and they would gladly share with you. Mind you, not everyone would, but most of them would.

At one farm I was very short of cash and had to wait a couple days to get paid. A family of illegals invited me to stay with them in their camp for the couple days, until I was able to get paid. They shared their meals with me and gave me a spot to sleep in. Real nice folks.

You meet a real wide spectrum of people out there, some nice, some not so nice. I’d say I met more off the wall people in northern California and some of the more down to earth people in Oklahoma and Texas.

But that was my personal experience, your own mileage may vary.
