Answers: where Enid Blyton based her book 5 go to kirrin island on?

It doesn't exist, as such, but Enid Blyton spent her summer holidays at Swanage in Dorset, where she had a holiday cottage, as she loved the area. The policeman in the books was definitely based on the local neighbourhood "bobby". So the likely location of Kirrin Island is Brownsea Island in Poole Bay, near Swanage. This is a National Trust island and nature reserve, open to the public and one of the last haunts of our native red squirrel. It can be reached by ferry from Poole and Swanage.
It is also the location of the very first Boy Scout camp launched by Sir Robert Baden-Powell in, I think, 1905.
