No it doesn't actually. You might think the fact that most basketball players are tall because they play basketball often but it's wrong. It's just their advantages. Although, you might be able to be a little bit taller if you get the right posture or something like that. All depends on your genes after all.
I will say this, Basketball is bloody brilliant, i love this game! It will get you very fit, the training is intensive and will make you super fit, but as with everything too much can cause more harm than good. Beware the signs of over training as injury will set you way back.
