Answers: Good service,20%, as service goes down, so does the tip/

No I do not

I leave one but a very small one.

Not a chance!

Nope, why reward bad service?

I just leave 10%. Unless it was extremely terrible service or none at all, i'll just not tip or speak with the manager

bad service no tip.....
good service i will leave $5.00

usually, i put three dollars on the table. but in this case, i would just leave fifty cents.

no

I tip unless they are really B1TCHY...I might just give less.

I think a small tip makes more of a statement than no tip.

Depends, if she is overworked and running around trying to do everything for everybody, then yes cause I feel sorry for her! The management should get off there asses and help or get her some help!!!! But I usually leave what I can. I have been a waitress before and if it the hardest job overall for no money. It pisses me off when I worked real hard to serve and make there meal pleasant and they then don't tip. Not everyone could do a job like that, you have to multi-multi task, have a fantastic memory, deal with the public good folks and the asses too! You have to be in good physical shape to keep up, manage money, think fast & put up with gropers! So yes you should leave a tip !!! But if she's just rude, lazy or acts like you are bothering her or she is busy talking to her friends then I might give her a written tip on paper telling her why she didn't get one! Not leaving a tip tell you a lot about a person! SAD!!!!

nope. they dont deserve it.

maybe next time, they will do a better job when they serve my family.

we were in that restaurant for 2.5 hours, when the waiter finally came with out food, and spilled it ALL over my lap.

Absolutely. Having worked in the food service industry, I know what it's like to be having a bad day, and perhaps make a few mistakes or not appear as personable as you should when dealing with customers. These people are overworked and underpaid, and from personal experience, those tips are needed.

However, if I ever got bad service a second time, I couldn't overlook it as a bad day again.

standard tip is 15% (of the pretax total).
i usually give about 20% if I'm pleased with the service.

i don't tolerate bad service. i seek remedy from manager.
i'm not interested in the "bad day" excuses others have mentioned here. if you can't do your job, find another. if you have reasonable intelligence, waiting tables is not a difficult job.

Even better if I am stuck waiting I will put the tip on the table and start taking away from that.

Well this is a very complex issue for me. It depends on your definition of "good service." If my waiter/waitress is rude, then no I would not leave a tip. However, if they are slightly delayed in their service, I still give them the benefit of the doubt because I respect the fact that they may be busy. I'm the type to always give a tip, but not if the waiter/waitress completely doesn't deserve it. Fortunately, I have never had a waiter/waitress like that.

i tip anyway but report them to the manager, even though it was BAD service i still got service.
