Yes. We find a needy family through friends or friends of friends. I am not talking about the welfare family that is getting tons of help from everyone and wants more, I am talking about hard working families that have a hard time making ends meet and would never go outside of their home and ask for help, the kind of people that would do without before they would ask.

We find out all we can about them, the kids, they have to have kids. Then we go to the grocery store and load up on groceries, usually about 500.00 or so, and a big grocery gift card to top it off. We then enlist the person who knows them to go in and do a bit of petty larceny for us. Take their electric bill, phone bill, gas, water and trash bills. This type of working people never has the extras like cable, so we always hook them up for a year when we pay their other bills up to date.

Then we go shopping for the family. Toys, clothes, a cool goody for mom and dad.

This year we found a wonderful family that has struggled so hard it is heartbreaking to say the least. The mom and dad both have 2 jobs, but they have a daughter that has very bad ailment that the victims normally do not live past their teens. They have to buy her medicine, and that keeps the family broke. They can only afford 1 car and then only when they have money for gas, so they spend a lot of time riding the bus with her mom watches the kids.

On Christmas Eve we sneak up to their home, leave all of the gifts knock on the door and run. This year will be a bit easier than making 2 or 3 trips each and hoping we do not get caught. We bought them a second car and some large fund gas gift cards that should last them a year. All we have to do is load up the car, park it on their driveway, send the fastest one to the door to leave a card with the keys in it taped to the door, knock and run.

They never find out where it comes from, that is the best part of all.

My family has been doing this since I can remember, now my daughter and her family are doing this as well.

Drink Heavily... But if your family get togethers are as chaotic as mine... maybe this isn't so "out of the ordinary"

get very very very very very very drunk...awww :D

The only tradition we have besides the family dinner, is that on christmas eve, around 12 am, which makes it christmas time, we can open one gift.

celebrate my sisters birthday

my brother and i go on the couch and have a couch fight. it's basically king of the hill but with a couch.

A lot of people get very very drunk. Guess that is not to out of the ordinary.

I rent a santa suit and wear it when I put presents under the tree incase the kids wake up they see santa instead of me putting presents under the tree.

yeah i usually sleep

on xmas eve since i was 3 me and my family, aunts, uncles and cousins on my dad's side go to my grandparents 2bedroom apt. so now it's about 25of us crammed in there. our first tradition is for all the women to sit at the table and sing xmas carols (we have no choice lol) the young kids then go into the one bedroom and watch out the window for santa in the dark...as people in the other room bring out all the presents and stuff them under the tree..and my grandpa acts as santa as the kids are in the bedroom with the door closed...once my grandpa pretends to leave the kids come out and OMG SANTA LEFT PRESENTS! lol (hey when you're young you buy it..then you start to realize it's grandpa's voice lol) then we open one present youngest to oldest ..for our first present we must sing part of a xmas song in order to get it (even the guys!) no sing no present my grandpa doesnt joke around. then my grandpa is the last to get his present and he sings "oh christmas tree" in german, he was born in austria so oh tonnenbalm (sp.) then when thats all done we finally eat our hot ham on rolls and have shrimp, cookies, wontons, and other little snacks about as a late dinner.
:) i loveeeeeeeeeeeeee it ...traditions are priceless

We open our presents from each other Christmas eve ,as my mother said, the tree just shines at night:)
Then Santa comes and leaves full stockings hung up and one unwrapped present under the tree for morning,..ho ho ho!:)
