Nope, I hate instant ones. They taste like crap.
It's easy, add some garlic salt and you never will know the difference
no they are really good if you make them right tho' I prefer to have some lumps in my I make ho_made
when you have to stock up for 3 months like in the case of hurricane preparation (or years ago you'd store food in your basement for civil defense purposes) then you'd store instant potatoes because potatoes are staples and only keep about a month at best, maybe a little longer in cold cellars (beneath the soil). People also buy powdered milk.
I never did think instant potatoes tasted the same as the fresh potato and have heard many people complain about the instant ones. I suppose it's a choice people have, but maybe they don't have a peeler (or maybe they've wasted too many potatoes that have gone bad). Remember them at Christmas with a peeler.

I like to cook potatoes. I hate the taste of instant.
Well, well, well, looks like a bunch of people who can afford real potatoes. But for some of us poor people, we have to use the flakes because it's cheaper. I can make a large box of the flakes last for two weeks, for a family of four. I dare you to do that with a 10 lb bag of taters! It won't happen.
By the way, after a while you get used to the funky taste and they aren't that bad. A little garlic, a little cheese, and they aren't bad at all.

The same reason they eat at McDonalds, shop at Walmart and want wash and wear cloths!
You said it. Real ones are just so much better. I grow mine now and you can't beat fresh ones at all.
