I would be dissapointed. Profanity is base, only to be used in extreme circumstances (like hitting ones thumb with a hammer). And you should never use it in reference to a friend! I would not sever relations over it...but it would put a strain on things.
Ask them to please stop, I don;t respond to that kind of language

I ask them to please watch there launguage and show a little respect! sometimes they will, sometimes not. i wouldn't not be there freind because of this, i'm only resposible for my actions not there's.

what? you mean like if my friend really meant it in not a joking manner.... then i might consider on keeping that person as a friend.. but besides that we all use those words to each other... no big deal!
Well, to be fair, I spose that I'd give them a second chance because everybody's entitled to make an error in judgement at least once ............... you need to make it clear that you are offended at being disrespected like that and as long as they apologised .

It depends on how bad the language is.. I don't swear at all, so any bad language won't go well with me IF said to me.. forget that! I demand respect.

my best friend calls me a #itch all the time. and i work in a machine shop full of guys who sware like sailers. it doesnt bother me. if i deserve to be called a bad name then do it. i dont read too far into peoples words no matter what they say. in the english language so many words are twisted and used in so many different ways and forms that ya just cant keep up anyways.

Do you mean like if they swore? I swear, too, maybe not as much but I do swear so it would be a touch hypocritical of me to cut ties with my friends because of that. Or do you mean if they called me a biatch or schlag or something? Well they do that anyway so I don't take it very seriously.

it depends SOMETIMES when someone is hot tempered they push their friends buttons in a bad way

I just wouldn"t talk to him/her for a verrrrrry long time. It would be a scar on our friendship that would be hard to heal. I could forgive the person for using vulgarities; but would never forget how insensitive they could be to my feelings. Therefore I could not be as comfortable around them anymore. I hate cursing. It benefits no-one. It is non-loving.
It is better to keep away from such filthy mind fellow.

The reason so many women don't mind profanity is because the American Culture is full of it. It is on the Television, radio, kids use it. With as much exposure as we have to it, we become desensitized.
Let it enter one ear and out the other. After all, we're all "pots calling the kettles black." So I'll forgive and just walk away.
