What should one do to become a comedian?!

Question: I am encouraging my mom to be a comedian. She is no doubt, one of the funniest people ever. You will never meet a woman like her, she is funny like you can't imagine. I tell her this. So here are 2 questions.

- How should I encourage her to do it? (She wants to)
- Where does she even get started at performing?

Let her know how much she makes people laugh; seriously, maybe bring your relatives and friends over to see if your mum is the true comedian. You need the action to proof to your mum that she can be a great comedian! As for where she can start performing, try asking some local council. They can help you find some place for her to perform. Best of luck to her!

Just laugh.

tell jokes to family and friends
watch lots of other comedians
gain your own silly style
perform in front of audiences at comedy shows, and college places!

GL & Merry X-Mas,

Dri Dri ???

watch other comedians
practice writing and telling jokes and planning monologues
then go to a comedy open mike night

Does she want to do this or are you pushing her into it?

I'm a singing comedian. I recorded some material and got it played on the radio in St. Louis and I'm not even from Missouri. Does she have a "Comedians Myspace"? She can video herself and D/L it to myspace.
I have my songs on there. I have a "Singers Myspace".
I have clubs here in town that will let me perform ANY TIME they aren't having a special event...so I have like OPEN MIC status all over town.
She could start by coming up with ten minutes of material and doing a bit a family parties. Also, friends could hire her for their parties or say reunions. Have more material than you need...like three times more so if you forget something...you can substitute.
Be sure she wants to do this...even as a hobby...not everyone wants what we want for them. Think of stage mothers and pagent moms...You don't want to be her "stage mom"...

Let her know how funny she is, have other relatives & friends let her know.

They usually have an open mike night at most comedy clubs. Take her and cheer her on.
