Answers: That Estell is a bad name for a baby?

The baby will not be born 80.

tell her you once knew a hooker by that name

ha ha.....google the name and find something horrible that person did and explain to your wife that you dont want your baby born with a bad rep!!

Ask her to look at other people's expressions on their face when you say you'll name the baby that.

Try to convince her to use it as a middle name only. Or as a pet's name. It is a cruel thing to name a tiny baby, though.

hmm.... get all the answers together on YA and show them to her!
Tell her how important our answers are!

that name STINKS! ...for this generation.

Dude.... I'd goggle Estell and find the ones who tarnish the name!

that is hilarious, thanks for the laugh

Estell for the love of all things holy!!!! Wow, I shouldn't think it would be hard to convince her of that one at all. What's the second choice? Esther??

oh is it gonna be a golden girl???

tell her that kids are mean and you refuse to put your girl through that. get a list of the most popular names or something. But you dont have to do that, only if you want to. A name does reflect your era though.

Ask her to post the question "is Estell a good name for my baby" on yahoo answers and she will see the replies she gets

Call her Stella.

is she serious omg that is one of the worst names just ask her how many estelles she knows these days. your poor kid sorry man

but the baby will be born with no teeth! lol.

I would show her old "Golden Girls" episodes and ask her if she wants the kid to turn out like that.

Is she set on this because it is a family name tho? If so, suggest that it be the middle name.

Yeah, what NYC said up there! That's a great idea! Good luck with that one, that's a really bad name! lol

I'm with you on this one...I don't like it either. I'm sorry wifey. But it's not a good name.

You must quickly come up with one she likes better. Threatening to name my daughter Aurora Borealis made my mom love Aphrodite as a choice.

LMFAO!! Isn't it funny how some names are just NOT for babies, but only for old people?! Haha!

I know a young girl called Margaret and it just doesn't seem right, somehow....

Ohhh well...

Remind her of the movie "How Stella got her groove back", or tell her to watch Golden Girls.
That is so cruel!!! Isn't it a crime to be cruel to babies?

explain to her that the kid will kill himself because of that name and the teasing that will follow him forever

hah. that's hilarious!! "wifey" and "the baby will not be born 80"!!!hha!!

threaten to shoot her (wifey, not the baby, that's just cruel!)

just joshin!!

LMAO!!!!! A girl I work with just named her little boy CLARENCE DELBERT .......u know that kid is gonna get his butt kicked on the play ground, and on the bus!!!!!! Its a very very old fashioned name.......I would just let her know exactly how u feel! How about the name Kaylee? its so pretty and so feminine and not used alot. Good luck! Merry Christmas!

dont do it hank!
i have a nieve named evelyn! poor thing

"star" is the meaning of that name. If you goggle the name you can find many sources that can back that up to show the names' meaning. The site can show the popularity of the name and when that name was popular. From what I saw that names popularity went way down in the mid 1930's. Another thing to consider is that your wife may be ALL for the name no matter what information you give her. Some times compromising on the form of that name might help (or making it the middle name). Stella is a far more popular form of that name. The birth certificate can say estella, but maybe you could encourage her how much you dislike the name for what ever reason ( bad past flings ect) and use a nick name stella. Don'r forget how cruel kids are these days and how much worst they will be when she starts school. Can it be morphed into a bad slang or tease? Don't forget to do research on other popular people of today that are already named estell. Are they poplular or infamous?

Estell or Estella ( another varient) is a very beautiful name meaning star.

BUT, if it helps you should know that Estell has fallen into disuse and noone is longer using the name.. to back this up I will give you to the link to show her as proof, even the chart there show how it slumps on the graph.

or show this Yahoo page lol.

you might have to give in here...remember to pick your battles wisely:)....

It's hard to convince a mother to be (and father to be also) to change a name once they get their heart set on one. I had a similar problem......maybe you could use Estelle for a middle name and come up with something more agreeable to you both for a first name that will go beautifully with Estelle.... Good Luck with this one Honey!
